Assessments
Autism assessments to support everyday living and development.
At PsychWell, we offer autism assessments for children and adults. These assessments are designed to help you gain clearer insight into how communication, social interaction, and behaviour patterns shape daily experiences.
What to expect from an autism assessment
It can be worthwhile to explore whether ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, or giftedness may be relevant to your situation before proceeding with a full diagnostic assessment.
At PsychWell, our process is designed to be thoughtful, staged, and transparent so families may feel informed and confident at every step, without unnecessary cost or overwhelm.
Discovery call
A brief, no-pressure conversation to understand concerns, answer questions, and determine whether an assessment pathway may be appropriate.
Initial consultation
A thorough clinical session incorporating screening measures, observation, and in-depth discussion. This step assists in determining whether a full assessment may be warranted.
Comprehensive assessment
At this stage, a clinical interview is conducted along with formal standardised assessments. The findings are then consolidated into a detailed written report.
Feedback Session
A purposeful session designed to explain your results clearly, respond to any questions, and discuss practical recommendations along with helpful next steps.
Who we provide assessments for
Our Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments are available for children, adolescents, and adults, including comprehensive autism assessments for toddlers, school-aged children, teenagers, and adults. Each assessment is thoughtfully shaped around the person’s developmental stage, strengths, challenges, and how they navigate everyday life.
Our psychologists support individuals and families seeking a clear, evidence-based autism assessment, whether concerns relate to communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, learning differences, or sensory sensitivities.
If an autism assessment for yourself or your child is something you are exploring, we welcome you to contact our clinic whenever the time feels suitable.
Signs and behaviours that may indicate autism
Autism can look different from one person to the next, with behaviours varying across children, adolescents, and adults. Some of the signs that may be observed include:
- Repetitive or comforting behaviours
- Limited or reduced eye contact
- Subtle or limited facial expressions
- Challenges in interpreting social cues
- A strong preference for routines
- Feeling overwhelmed in noisy settings
