Educational Assessment Lidcombe

Comprehensive educational assessment Lidcombe

Insight into learning, strengths, and needs.

Educational assessments for children and adolescents

Educational assessments aim to build a more complete picture of how children and adolescents engage with learning. They are designed to identify strengths, highlight areas of need, and explore the factors that influence academic experiences.

At PsychWell, we take a whole-learner approach, considering how each young person thinks, feels, and engages with the world. Using science-informed tools to explore each student’s learning profile, we provide thoughtful, personalised guidance that nurtures well-being and supports academic growth.

Cognitive assessments
(WISC-V)

The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fifth Edition (WISC-V) is used to gain a clearer understanding of a child’s cognitive abilities. It explores key areas such as verbal comprehension, visual-spatial skills, reasoning, memory, and processing speed.

Achievement assessments
(WIAT-III)

The WIAT-III (Wechsler Individual Achievement Test, Third Edition) is used to assess a person’s academic skills across various domains. It is designed for individuals from preschool through adulthood and helps to measure abilities in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, and oral language.

What educational assessments can uncover

Educational assessments aim to build a clearer understanding of a person’s learning profile, including their strengths, areas of difficulty, and the factors that shape how they think and learn.

These assessments may look at:

What to expect from the assessment process

Gaining clarity about whether ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, or giftedness may be relevant before committing to a full diagnostic assessment may make a meaningful difference.

At PsychWell, we have designed our process to be staged and transparent, helping families to potentially feel informed and confident throughout, without unnecessary cost or overwhelm.

Discovery call

A brief, no-obligation conversation designed to understand your concerns, answer any questions, and explore whether an assessment pathway may be appropriate.

Initial consultation

A detailed clinical session that includes screening measures, observation, and discussion. This step may help to clarify whether a full assessment is indicated.

Comprehensive assessment

At this stage, a clinical interview and formal standardised assessments are conducted, with findings carefully integrated into a comprehensive written report.

Feedback Session

A dedicated session to explain results, provide clear answers, and discuss practical recommendations and next steps.

This staged approach means families receive professional guidance from the outset, and only move forward to a full assessment when it is clinically appropriate, supporting informed decision-making and meaningful outcomes.
